At present, China is the second largest oil consumer and the seventh largest oil producer in the world. To reduce production costs and maximize shareholders' interests, PetroChina, Sinopec and CNOOC, the three largest oil and gas production conglomerates in China, are looking for ways to reduce their costs. France PCM pump North Asia Manager Ma Jian and technical director Wu Bingchang told Daqing Oilfield using large-displacement displacement pump PCM details.
As early as the 80s of last century, China began to develop screw pump production technology, but it was not until 2000 that screw pumps were gradually applied in major fields.
The purpose of the application of screw pump
â—† promote the use of screw pump production technology to reduce production costs, in particular, reduce electricity costs (according to PetroChina statistics, electricity costs have accounted for 46% of the cost of oil production).
â—† solve the heavy oil cold mining, high sand, high gas wells encountered in the mining process problems.
Problems Existing in Application of Domestic Screw Pumps in China Oilfields
â—† sucker rod fracture and tripping. This is mainly due to the imperfect design and selection of screw pumps and the lack of efficient braking devices.
â—† Displacement is small and pump efficiency is low. This is mainly due to the poor quality of the stator and the corresponding smaller number of types of rotors.
â—† Check the pump cycle is unstable, the performance of the screw pump pump cycle from a few weeks to 2 to 3 years. This is mainly due to the fact that for different oil wells, the formulation of stator rubber is single, and the stator and rotor interference ratio is not reasonable.
Application of PCM 600TP600 Screw Pump in Daqing Oilfield
The 600TP600 screw pump manufactured by PCM Company was put into operation in Daqing Oilfield in December, 2003. This is the first time that Daqing Oilfield uses the screw pump produced by foreign manufacturers (see Figure 1). The purpose of the application of the screw pump is to replace the large displacement pump rod pump, thereby reducing the cost of production wells.
Well data and screw pump parameters
Based on the oil well data of Daqing Oilfield, optimized by WINPETRO screw pump software of PCM Company, Daqing Oilfield finally chose 600TP600 screw pump (speed 500 r / min and pump outlet at 600 Cubic meter / day, the maximum lift of the pump is 600 meters). Meanwhile, in order to reduce the one-time investment, PCM Company has matched domestic drive head and domestic motor with 22 kw power.
Screw pump test run
In December 2003, after the pump was put into production, the displacement of the screw pump was 130 m3 / day and the pump efficiency was 55%. Customers think this low pump efficiency is due to the quality of the screw pump.
Stator adaptability test
To test the suitability of the 159 nitrile rubber stator of our choice, we took 500 ml of the oil in the well and sent it to France to conduct the adaptability test of the 159 nitrile rubber stator.
PCM, a French company, has tested the suitability of oil samples and stators in its stator rubber laboratory. Two weeks later, the test results are:
â–³ expansion coefficient = + 2.2%
â–³ hardness = - 4 point shore (Shore)
The test results show that PCM's 159 nitrile rubber stator has good adaptability to the well. PCM Oilfield experts advise the screw pump to continue production for a period of time to allow the stator rubber to reach its final swollen form factor.
Screw pump displacement changes
As expected, the displacement of the screw pump soon rose to 180 m³ / day and 200 m³ / day after 3 months and stabilized. At this point the pump efficiency reached 77% (see Figure 2). As of the end of April 2006, the well had been in normal operation for 840 days. Based on current operating conditions, it is estimated that the well will operate for at least one year at least.
When the pumping efficiency is reduced to 50%, PCM plans to move into a bigger rotor. The pump efficiency will be further improved and the life of the stator will be further extended. PCM Oilfield provides 14 different diameter rotor sizes for each type of stator.
Comparing the investment and benefit analysis of PCM600TP600 screw pump in China with the largest displacement screw pump in China, it is found that the cost saved by PCM screw pump after 2 years relative to domestic screw pump is: (Sucker rod) 21000 + ) 21000 yuan + (operating fee) 25000 yuan + (power consumption) 41000 yuan = 108000 yuan 2 years after the investment comparison Conclusion: a one-time investment in domestic screw pump +108000> PCM screw pump one-time investment in the use of PCM screw Two years after the pump yield comparison:
- Daily volume of liquid (m3 / d): 214-149 = 65
- Water content: 70%

In the meantime, Daqing Oilfield installed a Chinese-made GBL800-14 screw pump with the same theoretical displacement in the adjacent well of the PCM 600TP600 screw pump. Table 3 and Table 4 for the two screw pump comparison results.
CONCLUSIONS: In the long run, compared with domestic screw pumps, PCM's screw pumps reduce maintenance costs and operating costs, reduce energy consumption and greatly increase the economic benefits of the oilfield.
PCM screw pump unique stator rubber formula and a reasonable rotor selection is conducive to improving pump efficiency and extended operating cycle, thereby reducing the cost of oilfield production.
