The Kawasaki Steamship has recently ordered three VLCCs and two Aframax tankers (ship-type shipyards) to be placed in China and Japan as part of its fleet renewal program.
     Among them, Nantong COSCO Kawasaki (Location Review News) received two orders for 311,360 DWT VLCC from Kawasaki Steamship. The new captain is 339.5 meters wide and 60 meters wide. It will be delivered between 2017 and 2018 respectively. The specific cost has not been announced. In December last year, Nantong COSCO Kawasaki received two VLCCs from China Merchants Steamship (stock), which cost $88 million each.
     At the same time, Mingcun Shipbuilding received an order for a VLCC and two Aframax tankers from the Kawasaki steamship. The famous village ship Imari Shipyard will be responsible for the construction of a 310,300 dwt VLCC with a new length of 338.9 meters and a width of 60 meters. The delivery period is set at 2018. The other two 113,000 dwt Afra oil tankers will be built by Sasebo Heavy Industries, a subordinate of the famous village shipbuilding. The new captain will be 243.8 meters wide and 42 meters wide and will be delivered in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
     According to the Kawasaki Steamship, the five new ships are designed to comply with existing regulations and new regulations to be effective. Currently, seven VLCCs are operating in the fleet of the Kawasaki Steamship.
