“In 1996, we applied to the ABS national science and technology research project and received the support of some enterprises. We passed the national appraisal in April 2003. So far, only one company in Zhejiang Asia Pacific has produced qualified ABS products, with more than 100,000 each year. The sales of the kits, and other companies that were cooperating at the time, could not be mass-produced. With technology, industrialization could not be realized. This is a major issue that restricts the autonomy of key parts and components technology in China.†Recently, the autonomy of the brake system was discussed. Question, Song Jian, deputy dean of the Automotive Engineering Development Institute of Tsinghua University, was helpless. According to reports, the project he spoke of received the 2005 China Automotive Industry Science and Technology Progress Award.
Why are China's already mastered brake system core technologies not widely used and promoted? What are the obstacles to the realization of autonomous technologies for industrialization?
Multinational companies use prices to suppress domestic companies
Wan Min Group deputy general manager Yan Minyong told reporters that foreign ABS technology has been very mature, China is still in the early stages of development. With the batch and scale support in foreign countries, the cost of ABS for multinational companies is lower than that of domestic companies. The cost of producing a set of ABS for domestic enterprises is around 800 yuan. At present, most companies can only enter the supporting system of self-owned brand passenger cars. The quotations offered by multinational companies to self-owned brand automakers have dropped to 500-600 yuan, which has caused great pressure on domestic companies.
“The products of multinational companies have their own brand advantages, plus the price is cheaper than domestic products. OEMs are more willing to adopt their products. As a result, we have entered the passenger car supporting system more difficult and there is no large-scale supply. The opportunity, technology and quality cannot be continuously improved and it is difficult to develop rapidly." Yanmin said.
Di Song Song introduced that when there is no domestic brand ABS, Bosch and other brands of ABS sold a set of 1,500 yuan, and now under the competitive pressure of domestic enterprises, the price dropped to five or six hundred dollars a set. The scale of the electronic brake system of the domestic brake system manufacturing companies will not go up, and the cost will not come, making the auto manufacturers unwilling to choose domestic products.
It is difficult to combine production, teaching and research
Zhang Xiaotang, director of the Planning Department of Ruili Group, frankly stated that in order to combine production, education and research, companies have to spend money, and some private enterprises are not enthusiastic. Colleges and universities have the advantage of research and development, but according to the R&D process, the period from theoretical prototypes, experimental prototypes to product prototypes is too long, and it may not be marketable. Firms that are not strong enough are often reluctant to invest so much time and money to do research.
Min Yong said that the industrialization of R&D results is very difficult. The degree of autonomy of commercial vehicles in China is high, so the proprietary brand brake system is used more in the commercial vehicle field and the market share has exceeded that of foreign brands. However, in the field of passenger vehicles, foreign brands occupy a dominant position and it is very difficult to enter its supporting system. Without the support of OEMs, the realization of the industrialization of the self-owned brand ABS will not be possible.
Song Jian told reporters that their independently researched and developed ABS products have broken down the long-term German and U.S. companies monopolizing the status of the domestic auto ABS market, making ABS's matching costs and product prices fall, further reducing the cost of vehicles, but in recent years there has been no Get a large area of promotion and application. After the R&D work is completed, the product has to rely on the production of the enterprise. The sample of the enterprise can be done well, but the problem of reliability of a small batch of production is exposed. This shows that in addition to research and development, manufacturing processes and industrialization are very important.
"Private enterprises must consider the relationship between input and output, many companies feel that the risks involved in the investment are too great, and the current output is very small and reluctant to invest again. In addition to Zhejiang Asia Pacific, at the end of 2007, Wuhan Yuanfeng Company began to enter ABS. In the production field, the scale of construction is very large. The designed capacity of the first phase of the project is 500,000 sets, and the second phase of the production capacity is 2 million sets. However, there is currently a large funding gap, and the loan is difficult. It is still unknown whether it can be built. Jian said.
Independent innovation cannot slogan slogan
Qiu Xianliang, general manager of Zhejiang Asia-Pacific Mechanical & Electrical Co., Ltd., said that the state encourages independent research and development to support related fiscal and taxation policies and accelerate industrialization, so that breakthrough technology cannot be allowed to sleep in the laboratory.
Song Jian said that innovation has great risks and uncertainties. R & D and production of a product may not be reliable, and will not guarantee profits. This risk cannot be entirely borne by individuals and companies. The government should play a greater leading role in innovation. "New energy vehicles can have financial subsidies. Why are there no key components for R&D and industrialization?" Song Jian said.
Zhang Xiaotang believes that it is a good thing for the state to encourage the autonomy of key components and it is necessary, but there are no specific support measures. Judging from the current situation, it is very difficult to rely solely on the enterprise itself to innovate. It can only be emptied by slogans and cannot solve practical problems.
