The deposit is located in the Caledonian trough belt of the North Qilian Mountains. The ore-bearing rock series in the mining area is dominated by phyllite, and the stratigraphic age is classified as Neoproterozoic.
The mining area is a compound syncline structure with a slower dip angle in the north wing, a steeper south wing, more upright or even reversed. The fault is dominated by the reverse fault, and the fault is layered, which has a certain destructive effect on the ore layer.
The main iron ore layer is produced between black phyllite and gray-green phyllite, and is thickly layered with a thickness of 10 to 150 m. The barite is symbiotic with iron ore, and the ore is composed of siderite, mirror iron ore, jasper, barite and iron dolomite.
There are three kinds of barite occurrence states, one is the barite lens body sandwiched in the iron ore layer, the other is the barite strip in the iron ore, and the third is the fine and granular barite mixed in the diamond. Between iron ore or mirror iron ore. The barite lens body is often obliquely layered, and the boundary line of the surrounding rock is not obvious. The scale is too small and there is no separate mining significance. The barite strip is the main form of occurrence, the width is generally 0.5 to 1 mm, the extension length is not large, generally several tens of centimeters, and it is reproduced. Barite mixed in iron minerals is not easily visible to the naked eye. The average content of BaSO 4 in the iron ore of the mining area is 7.32%, which can only be comprehensively recovered. Some research units have conducted mineral processing tests. The recovery rate of raw ore barite is generally above 70%, and the concentrate grade is above 95%.
