In 2015, the total output value of China's remanufacturing industry will reach 150 billion yuan

At the “2012 International Forum on Remanufacturing and Remanufacturing International Exhibition” recently held in Beijing, it was learned that with the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” including the remanufacturing industry in the energy-saving and environmental protection industry, China’s remanufacturing industry has entered a stage of full acceleration. It is estimated that by 2015, the total output value of the remanufacturing industry is expected to reach 150 billion yuan.

Remanufacturing refers to the mass production process of professionally rehabilitating used auto parts, engineering machinery, machine tools, etc. Remanufactured products achieve the same quality and performance as the original new products.

“China's remanufactured pilot companies have formed remanufacturing capacity of 250,000 sets of automotive engines, gearboxes, steering gears and generators, with an output value of more than 2 billion yuan.” Academician of the National Defense Key Laboratory of China's Academy of Engineering and Equipment Remanufacturing Technology Xu Binshi said.

At present, China’s domestic car ownership has exceeded 100 million, and 1,000 people have more than 70 cars. It is estimated that by 2020, the number of cars scrapped each year will reach 14 million. The environmental resource problems caused by this will become increasingly prominent and will seriously restrict the healthy and sustainable development of China's auto industry.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has demonstrated in a number of companies that the remanufacturing industry is not inferior to new products in terms of quality and performance. The cost is only 50% for new products, more than 60% for energy conservation, more than 70% for materials, and a significant reduction in adverse environmental impact.

“In today's increasingly constrained global energy, resources, and environment, how manufacturing has taken off the world's largest hat for resource consumption and polluting industries, and how to develop green manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing has become an important issue. Remanufacturing is both green and advanced. The characteristics of manufacturing are an effective way to save resources and energy,” said Pan Yunhe, executive vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Gao Dongsheng, deputy director of the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated that at the policy level, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is piloting the remanufacturing industry in the fields of construction machinery, electric motors, and internal combustion engines, and is striving to foster the formation of a standardized and large-scale remanufacturing industrial chain.
