The technical competition kicked off in September 2015 and invited undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Tongji University, East China University of Science and Technology and Shanghai Polytechnic University to apply for undergraduate and postgraduate studies related to automation, computer science, and measurement and control. The competition was divided into competition presentations, presentations, and student registration. Mentoring and technical training, student drafting programs, first-round program display & evaluation, and final evaluation. Students form teams on their own by means of 3-5 people, and apply for different topics according to their interests and professional expertise, designing programs and participating in the selection. Initially enrolled in 15 groups, after fierce competition, the final 10 teams into the finals.
The students participating in this competition mainly focused on the theme of "Industry 4.0 and Intelligent Digital Factory" to plan design and display. The competition set up three topics respectively, mainly involving the diagnosis, pre-maintenance, troubleshooting, and data platform utilization of intelligent equipment; industrial heat transfer Real-time efficiency monitoring; wireless control technology research and other aspects. Emerson arranged for senior technical experts to provide guidance and technical training for different topics. During the competition, Emerson collaborated with the school to provide students with smart devices and related platforms for students to observe, learn and experiment. The competition judges consist of school teachers and senior Emerson experts. The final judging panel consisted of Professor Yuan Bo from Tongji University, Sun Jingyi from East China University of Science and Technology, Teacher Shen Yuming from Shanghai Polytechnic University, and Zhao Zhao from Emerson Applied Technologies Solutions, Wu Yuenian, Senior Expert in Applied Technology, Shen Yijun, Director of Systems and Solutions Department, and Senior Manager of Systems and Solutions. Yan Bing co-constructs and selects students according to their usual performance, the degree of the program's degree, completeness, feasibility, creativity, and the performance of live demonstrations and defenses.
