Recently, an exciting news came from CNOOC Chemical Co., Ltd. The company has made significant progress in the application development project for downstream products of carbon degradable plastics (PPC) in cooperation with Changchun Yinghua Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Researchers have successfully decarbonized carbon dioxide materials. Blown film and made into environmentally friendly plastic bags, this is the first case in the world. After the introduction of China's "plastic limit order", the appearance of this environmentally friendly plastic bag is encouraging.
It is understood that after the plastic bag is used, it can be fully biodegraded under the composting conditions without any impact on the environment. In the future, CNOOC Engineering Technology Center will also cooperate with relevant scientific research units to focus on the development of high barrier films to make more rigid and thinner films, meet the requirements of food packaging, and continue to explore the application of carbon dioxide degradable plastics.
The reduction and utilization of carbon dioxide has always been a problem that all humanity is trying to solve. While causing the temperature to rise, carbon dioxide is still a potential resource. To this end, CNOOC took the lead in the construction of an annual production capacity of 3000 tons of PPC equipment at its chemical company. In order to cooperate with the construction of the project's production equipment and expand the application market of carbon dioxide plastic products, the company also conducted series research and development on the application of downstream products of PPC while constructing the equipment, and focused on the research and trials of opening up the application of carbon dioxide degradable plastics in the packaging field. . At the same time, the company also cooperates with the Changchun Institute of Chemical Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to develop the excellent performance of high barrier properties and low oxygen permeability of carbon dioxide plastics.
It is understood that after the project was launched in 2007, it has carried out the purification, preliminary modification and end-capping tests of carbon dioxide-based plastics; the scaled-up pure process technology has completed the PPC ash content less than 1000x10-6 and less than 50x10-6. The design of the refined process route has passed the end capping, blending, and controlled cross-linking experiments on PPC. In early May of this year, a 100 kg blown film test was conducted at Jiangsu Nantong Huasheng Co., Ltd. to stabilize the 0.03 mm film. Because blown film products still need improvement in terms of impact and tear resistance, the project research and development team will immediately increase the toughness of PPC materials as the focus of the research on blown film, and improve and optimize the formula and process of PPC materials. At the end of June, 375 kg of modified PPC material for blown film was again tested for industrial blown film at Nantong Huasheng Company, and the film was successfully made into a plastic bag.
