US auto parts supplier BorgWarner used a variable cam timing system (VCT) that uses Cam Torque Start (CTA) technology for the 2011 Ford SuperDuty 6.2-liter V8 engine.
The VCT timing system using BorgWarner CTA technology is more efficient than the traditional hydraulic start VCT system.
James Verrier, president and general manager of BorgWarner MorseTEC, said: "The BorgWarner CTA timing system technology was first exhibited in 2009 and was first applied to the 2011 Ford Mustang GT that was launched earlier this year."
The BorgWarner CTA variable cam timing system can more effectively control the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves by the engine torque, while the conventional cam timing system is through the hydraulic adjustment cam.
The BorgWarner CTA Variable Cam Timing System Technology won the 2009 Automotive News PACE Award.
