Recently, the company prototyped the first prototype of Direct Metal Sinter Rapid Prototyping (DMLS) and became the fourth company in the world to master the technology.
DMLS that direct metal laser sintering molding technology, is the crown jewel in the field of 3D printing technology. The technology is directly deposited by laser melting of metal powder, the metal itself is dense remelting, not easy to produce when the powder metallurgy forming cavities, the use of the technology to produce the structure of parts density of up to 99%, close to forging material embryos body. At present, it is mainly used in the world to manufacture high-strength components and complex components that can not be processed by traditional processes. Forming of irregular components, it can reach the level of 90% -95% of the highest strength of the same grade of metal, High precision, minimal molding limitations, is widely used in high-precision parts manufacturing and other fields.
Currently, DMLS direct metal laser sintering technology has been dominated by a handful of 3D printing giants such as Germany and the United States. Each DMLS printer costs more than 10 million yuan. There is a huge gap between China's 3D printing technology and advanced enterprises in the world. To grasp the core technology as soon as possible and shorten the gap with the world advanced level, in August 2014, the five W7 Kunming Branch established the additive manufacturing business unit-U3 team, specializing in the research and product development of additive manufacturing technology. The introduction of outstanding technical team at home and abroad, to speed up the "mechanical structure, intelligent control, software engineering, new materials," such as additive manufacturing related to the development of key technologies. After finishing the development of the FDM printer, the technical team focused on breaking through the metal laser sintering technology (DMLS). After continuous fighting and overcoming difficulties, it finally completed the trial production of the first DMLS prototype with independent intellectual property rights. At present, the technical team adopted this key technology to complete the sintering test of 316L stainless steel, titanium alloy and other metal powder parts.
In order to achieve the rapid development of 3D printing technology, in the next step, VIIW will establish an additive manufacturing industrial park and a Yunnan Rapid Prototyping Technology Center in the new district of Kunming with the support of relevant departments of Yunnan Province, and configure DMLS production equipment , FDM non-metallic 3D printer group, as well as the corresponding 3D scanning modeling equipment to create an additive manufacturing industry base integrating additive manufacturing technology research, equipment research and development, production and value-added services.
