Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Co., Ltd., which was jointly established by Foton Motor and Cummins, launched the Foton Cummins ISF series environmentally friendly light-duty diesel engine. The Futian vehicle installed with this engine can reduce fuel consumption by 8%, reduce nitrogen oxides and particulate emissions by 20% to 30%, and meet Euro IV and above emission standards.
According to the engineers, the Foton Cummins ISF engine has integrated advanced technologies such as electronically controlled high-pressure common rail technology, supercharged intercooling technology, improved intake and combustion chambers, and advanced post-processing technologies (such as SCR and EGR technology). Integration has achieved breakthroughs in many aspects such as fuel economy and environmental protection, and fully meets the requirements of the two major emission standards in the United States and Europe.
In 2005, Foton Motor invested 600 million yuan to build the first domestic key laboratory for energy-saving and emission reduction in commercial vehicle companies. The establishment of the laboratory provided strong technical support for the development of Foton Motor. The fuel consumption of heavy-duty trucks has therefore been reduced by more than 10%, and the emissions of carbon dioxide and particulate matter have been reduced by 5%.
In order to further accelerate the industrialization of new energy vehicles, Futian initiated the establishment of Beijing New Energy Automobile Industry Alliance to strengthen government and production by integrating resources such as R&D, design, manufacturing, parts supply and end-users in the new energy automotive industry chain. The effective convergence of research, learning, research and application will effectively reduce the research and development costs of new energy sources, share technological achievements, create a large-scale industrial supporting system for new energy technologies, and a new energy automotive industrial chain with international competitiveness.
